Spring Showcase
Due to continued COVID restrictions, we are reimagining how we can showcase our dancers instead of an end-of-year performance. We are so proud of our dancers’ hard work, but also realize that our typical production is simply not feasible this spring. However, the show will go on with a special opportunity for every dancer!
One time per week classes: Classes that meet once each week will learn a dance throughout the spring semester. They will receive a costume, and during the last week of classes we will film the dance in the studio to perform a virtual showcase. Parents will be emailed a link to the password-protected page on our website to watch for free.
Two or three times per week classes: Classes that meet two times or more each week will learn a dance in each class they attend. They will receive one costume and perform a live showcase with limited attendance at Ellis Park Amphitheatre in Danville on Friday, June 4 at 7pm (rain date is June 5 at The Royal Theater in Danville). This will also be live-streamed online for those who are not able to attend in person. Families who have paid for more than one costume will be refunded automatically.
While we are excited to offer this opportunity for our students to perform, we realize it will be different from past years. We have had to structure it this way for these reasons:
- Due to current and projected size limitations on social gatherings, a typical performance at the high school with all our students and their family members is impossible.
- Our typical story-based performance is not possible this year because we can’t use backdrops, scenery or props at the Ellis Park amphitheatre.
- Staging a showcase at the park with all our students would actually run much longer than our typical performance, and it would be difficult to separately manage and socially-distance our large number of classes.
We encourage families of once-a-week students to make a special family time of watching their in-studio performance. And share with friends and family wouldn’t normally be able to attend a performance.
We appreciate your understanding and look forward to celebrating our students in June! |
