What’s Happening in November…

October flew on by; welcome November! This will be a busy month for The Children’s Ballet as we begin our Nutcracker study and prepare to put on our first ever production of The Nutcracker. We are grateful for the opportunity to share dance with all of our amazing students and families.

NUTCRACKER NEWS

We are so excited to put on our first ever full-length production of The Nutcracker next month! This production would not be possible without the generosity of Robyn Wenrich and many community partners. We are also excited to feature around 50 of our amazing students who have been working so hard since September. We are also thrilled to feature professional dancers, including:

  • Hannah Wilhite as the Snow Queen (Kanopy Dance Company, Ballet Theatre of Indiana, Crossroads Dance Indy)
  • Vanessa Schuldt as the Dew Drop (The Children’s Ballet, Anderson University, Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre)
  • Rachel Walker as the Sugar Plum Fairy (Central Illinois Ballet)

This will be a one of a kind performance that is not to be missed! Get your tickets at www.thechildrensballet.com starting at 9:30 am November 1st!

**We are still looking for a few more volunteers. Click here to claim a spot, and receive one free ticket to any performance (limit one per person)!

CAPITAL CAMPAIGN UPDATES

Thanks to the generosity of our families and donors we are making great progress on the Building Our Future campaign launched last winter. In May of this year, we were able to replace all of the windows in the studio, adding to the efficiency and safety of our building. Our next goal is to replace the siding and exterior doors on the building. Can you help? This week our students have been participating by donating $5 to break dress code during class. We have brand new apparel available as our thank you for your donation. These items will be available just in time for Christmas–great gift ideas!

If you are considering a year-end gift for 2019, we would ask to be included as one of your top three charitable organizations. For more information on giving to The Children’s Ballet, please visit our website or email us at info@thechildrensballet.com. Be sure to ask your employer if they offer a matching gift program!

Studio Spotlight:

Haley Altman-Cipot, Instructor

Miss Haley began her dance training with ballet, tap, and jazz classes at the age of five. She continued studying at various dance schools throughout Connecticut,  narrowing her focus to classical ballet. In 2009, Haley joined the New England Ballet School’s student company to perform corps, soloist, and principal roles. She has attended summer ballet intensives with the Bolshoi Ballet, The Rock School, and American Ballet Theater in New York. Haley placed in the top 12 for her classical variation in the 2012 Connecticut Classic Ballet Scholarship Competition and was awarded a full scholarship to the Burklyn Ballet Theater summer intensive. In May 2016, Haley graduated from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts with a BFA in ballet, where she trained under Susan Jaffe, Laura Martin, and Jennet Zerbe with the American Ballet Theater National training Curriculum.

Haley is a company dancer and costumer with Ballet Theatre of Indiana, where she has performed leading soloist roles in La Bayadere, Beauty & The Beast, and the title role in Cinderella. We are grateful to have her at The Children’s Ballet!
